Panorama Videoart + Experimental Cinema is a non-competitive exhibition of video art and avant-garde films with prominence on the international circuit. The curatorship focuses on works of an eminently authorial and artistic nature.
The event was created with the objective of making a periodic overview of critically relevant works at an international level, in order to foster local production and at the same time give visibility and feedback to artists.
The first edition of Panorama took place in November 2018, presenting 12 works by artists from 9 countries at Pinacoteca Ruben Berta Museum in Porto Alegre and at O Sítio Art and Technology in Florianopolis, Southern Brazil. In partnership with Cine Tornado, the program was also presented on the festival’s grid at Curitiba Cinemateque. The second edition took place in November 2019, bringing 16 films by artists from 11 countries, also with screenings in Porto Alegre and Florianopolis. In addition, Panorama focus special programs on guest artists, such as filmmaker Rouzbeh Rashidi, who in May 2019 had a section of his filmography presented in Porto Alegre.
With the health emergency, the third edition scheduled for 2020 has been postponed to 2021 and will be presented online, as has been happening with many festivals and cultural events throughout this year.
With the launch of the Visualconteiner on-demand platform in Milan, Italy, the opportunity arises to re-present the first two editions of Panorama, now on a global scale, from January 7 to February 8, anticipating and preparing for the third edition, which goes on air from March 19 to April 20 on the same Visualconteiner Web TV.
In these three years, our purpose has not changed: without focusing on genres, themes or trends, the selection strives for the diversity of approaches, seeking works that instigate in their own terms. The challenge for the audience is to begin again in each film, an exercise in opening and renewing the look whose effort is compensated by the inventiveness of the artists, by the unique way in which each translates their experience in the time we’re living. Wish that these testimonies presented in Panorama can also speak a little about us all.

MURIEL PARABONI
Muriel Paraboni is a multimedia artist, teacher and curator. Trained in visual arts and cinema, with a master’s degree in the field of Art and Technology, his work is marked by hybridism and language experimentation in a variety of supports, such as painting, object, photography, installation, video and cinema. Have been exhibiting regularly, in solo and group shows, in various parts of the world since 2010. His films and videos have been presented at festivals, museums and art galleries in more than 20 countries, such as the United States , England, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Mexico, receiving several awards. Since 2018 is running and curating at Panorama Video Art + Experimental Cinema, an annual and non-competitive showcase for international video art and avant-garde films.
